When Stanislaw Stepniewski purchased Windy Point Fruit Ranch in 1972, he was struck by the similarity to vineyards he had seen in Europe.  Though Stanislaw never fulfilled his dream to grow grapes here, his son Mike has brought the vision to fruition.  Even the pioneer homesteaders who planted this land in the 1890's recognized it as a unique site for growing fruit.  Mike & Liz Stepniewski believe that uniqueness will translate into world-class wines.

Mike brings more than 34 years of farming experience to the vineyard, along with a hard-earned reputation for producing fruit of the very highest standards.  His passion for architecture reflects in the design and construction of our Napa Valley style tasting room, designed and built to showcase Windy Point's breathtaking views of the Yakima Valley.  Winemaker Liz, after thirteen years as a teacher of the blind and visually impaired, hones her craft while raising a family, and excelling in both.  Mike & Liz are inveterate cooks and have designed a professional kitchen as the centerpiece of the tasting room.  Visitors will enjoy pairing our elegant wines with both classic and whimsical cuisine, as the mood and occasion strike.

Windy Point Vineyards will remian a boutique winery, producing no more than about 3,000 cases annually.  Currently we offer Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, a spiffy little blend called "Pointless Red", Zinfandel, Syrah, and one of the valley's best Cabernet Franc.  Estate grown and produced wines are now available with the release of the 2002 vintage.

"If we see that our wine is improving each year, then we will feel we are fulfilling our original goal; to make high quality wine at an affordable price in a setting that brings together people interested not just in wine, but in the expanding of all our horizons."
